It’s no debate that the Randy Rogers Band is one of the most well known bands in Texas country. For nearly two decades, the group has travelled and performed across the U.S., growing as a band while consistently putting out great music and gaining fans along the way.

Not only has the music been great, there’s been a lot of it too! The Randy Rogers Band is getting ready to drop their eighth studio album, “Hellbent,” later this month, and if history has anything to say about it, it will be a good one.

The group’s last four studio albums have all reached the Top 5 in the U.S. Country charts, and two of them cracked the Top 10 in the Billboard 200. The band has also had success with live albums and duet albums, working with Wade Bowen on multiple occasions.

“Hellbent,” which releases on April 26, is set to be the next chart-topping album for the group.

“The record is our band. It’s the same guys that’s played on all the records,” Rogers said. “I think it’s just us. It’s us back to some of the earlier records that we made.”

In the first few albums they made, such as “Rollercoaster” and “Just a Matter of Time,” the band was just playing and enjoying themselves, Rogers said. “Hellbent” is a nice return to that.

“We’re proud of it,” he said. “It’s kind of a back to your roots kinda thing.” The first single from the album emphasizes that “back to your roots” feeling. “Crazy People,” which debuted on Feb. 15, reflects Rogers’ youth, one that he describes as very sheltered.

Growing up as the child of a Baptist preacher, Rogers said he was scared of everything. But as soon as he came of age, he did all those things his parents told him not to do.

“I think a lot of us grew up that way,” Rogers said. “Usually the things they told us not to do were the things we did the most.”

The song describes the people and things he was warned about, serving as a little nod to his parents and his childhood.

The Randy Rogers Band started promoting the new album on their “Never Ending Tour” at the end of March and will do so throughout the next few months, including his stop at Chilifest. Playing at the annual festival in Snook is a personal highlight for Rogers.

“Dude, Chilifest is awesome! I love it,” he said. “I can’t tell you enough how happy we are to be coming back this year. It’s one of those events we hate to miss. I can’t wait.”

The Randy Rogers Band will take the stage at 5:20 on Saturday, April 6. The day’s lineup includes Kyle Park, Flatland Cavalry, Whiskey Myers and Cody Jinks. “Hellbent” is available for preorder now.
