KANM, the college station of College Station, has always aimed to provide non-commercial music not only to the Bryan-College Station community, but to anyone who tunes in to the internet broadcast. KANM does this by having student DJs create their own unique shows that don’t have music from the Billboard Hot 100, Pop 100, or Mainstream Top 40.
While this may seem restricting, it actually pushes KANM DJs to create shows that have weird, underground, and personal music. These shows have turned into a space that allows the DJs to explore and share their own personalities through various genres such as Alt-Rock, Indie Pop, Heavy Metal, Shoegaze, Ska, and whatever else their hearts desire.
That’s what makes KANM unique and what they hope to share when they partner with organizations on Texas A&M’s campus or companies in different cities, such as C3 Presents and Transmission Events.
Currently, KANM is working with Free Press Houston and their new music festival Day For Night, a two-day winter festival on December 19 and 20 at Silver Street Studios in Houston.
On three different stages, Day For Night will feature world-class musicians such as Kendrick Lamar, Dillon Francis, Janelle Monáe and Dan Deacon. Additionally, there will be visual artists showcasing how immersive lighting, video art, and projection partners with live music. Day For Night is expected to be a top-notch winter festival that will put Houston on the map as the entertainment powerhouse it is.
KANM is excited to partner with Day For Night because of their belief that it speaks to their own personal mission: to create passion and excitement for new music and ideas.
Tickets for Day For Night can be found at DayforNight.io. KANM is also giving away tickets on their website kanm.org and social media sites, so check their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for more information.
