It is always a good time in the Bryan-College Station area when a recognized band comes to town. Country seems to be the scene in this area, because great artists just keep passing through. This time around, on November 5, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors will be performing at Texas A&M’s Rudder Auditorium.
Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors was formed in 2006 by Drew Holcomb, who is the lead singer. Along with Holcomb, there are three others, Nathan Dugger on guitar, Jonathan Womble on the drums, and Rich Brinsfield on bass. When the band was formed, all four lived in the same zip code in Tennessee, so they were quite literally neighbors. The band has drawn their influence from Americana music like Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.
Holcomb had began his career as a solo artist, and he released his first full length album, “Washed In Blue,” in 2005. The album earned multiple television placements in shows like “Army Wives,” “The Cleaner,” and “United States of Tara.”
While attending the University of Tennessee, Holcomb met Ellie Bannister, the daughter of producer-songwriter Brown Bannister. Holcomb and Ellie eventually married in 2006, and she joined the band. About two years ago, she stopped touring with the band, but she still has great input when it comes to the song writing.
After this great exposure, the rest of the members started coming along for the ride. With more than 100,00 albums sold and 1,800 concerts played, the Memphis and Nashville natives have also had their songs featured on popular shows such as “How I Met Your Mother,” “House M.D.,” and “Parenthood.”
The band’s latest studio record, “Souvenir,” was released on March 24, 2017. Their album is a reminder of all the good memories that we often forget in this fast-paced world. It is truly an album to listen to if you enjoy country music with a little touch of serenity.
The band’s upcoming show is a reserved seating event at Rudder Tower, and tickets can be purchased at the MSC Box Office, located inside Rudder Tower. If groups want to sit together, the tickets need to be purchased in the same transaction to make sure they are seated together.
