The Grand Stafford strives to welcome new and exciting performances each month, and April will be no exception. First Friday is a family friendly event in Downtown Bryan on the first Friday of every month. There are free concerts at most venues, art galleries to explore, and plenty of shops and cafes with extended hours. There is a large variety of things to enjoy on first Friday, but the Grand Stafford will be the place to be if you love live music like we do.
Four bands, all with a foundation of rock mixed with unique twists and original sounds, will come together to create a stunning overall performance. The New Offenders, The Mammoths, LeAnder and Honest Men each bring something different to the stage but are similar enough to compliment one another.
The New Offenders is a southern roots/rock band from Houston that began their journey as a band in August of 2014. The band solidified its membership, found the right line up, and set out to complete their debut album “Stones to Throw.” The album dropped this month and, as expected, the album is eclectic and captures the unique sound and nature of the New Offenders.
The Mammoths, from Austin, enjoy blending elements of blues, rock, and psych into each of their songs. An unexpected jam session at SXSW in the Live Music Capitol of the World was all they needed to put all the pieces together, start their journey, and never look back.
Honest Men is an indie/alternative rock band from Waco, TX. Their debut album “Okay Dreamer” released in January. Honest Men has been known to take an ordinary and familiar story and tell it in an extraordinary way. This band speaks to the listener’s’ soul and not only will the music replay in your mind days after, but Honest Men also aims to change you and make you question things you already know.
The Grand Stafford offers all of their First Friday events for free and will open its doors for the event at 7pm on Friday. While you are out and about in Downtown Bryan enjoying all our community has to offer, stop at the Grand Stafford to see what these bands are all about.
