Look out comic book fans, Netflix continues it contributions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of the much anticipated “Jessica Jones.” Return to Hell’s Kitchen, the same crime-ridden neighborhood from “Daredevil,” for a gripping journey of survival.

Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) has superhuman strength and the ability to fly, but her attempt at becoming a super hero ended with tragedy. Now she’s a sarcastic, hot-tempered, alcoholic private detective in Hell’s Kitchen that’s just trying to rebuild her life while battling self-loathing, a serious case of PTSD, and Kilgrave (David Tennant), a man from her past that can control minds.

“Jessica Jones” is dark. It’s gritty. And it’s not afraid to get its hands dirty. Melissa Rosenberg, the creator of this series, delves into the complexities of assault, abusive relationships, PTSD, and darker topics throughout the season that other media tends to gloss over. It’s not for the faint of heart, but you’ll be glued to your screen, intensely watching how the characters deal with their personal traumas to survive another day.
