July 20 marks the unbelievable 50 year anniversary of man’s legendary first small step on the moon, and the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley has the perfect way for your child to celebrate! July 22-26, your budding astronaut can take one giant leap through education and celebration with “Space is the Place” Camp!
It’s a great big world out there, and head camp counselor Evleen Nasir will be educating your kids in all things outer space during this once-in-a-lifetime weeklong celebration. Nasir says the camp will be about exploring the inner workings of outer space through educational film, crafts, science experiments, and more!
Since there’s no better way to celebrate the moon landing than to experience it through it through your own eyes, your kids will get the chance to watch the original moon landing and soar into the past, learning about the historical figures involved. Crafts will include the use of “moon sand,” and your child will even build their own little moon lander.
“This camp is an opportunity for the children of our community to explore the majesty of our universe from the safety of our museum,” says Nasir. “We hope to make the intangible, tangible and give the kids a fun, creative, and hands-on learning experience.”
The “Space is the Place” camp is available for kids ages 4 and up, and will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. from Monday, July 22 to Friday, July 26. Can’t use light speed to pick up your kid on time? No worries. For an additional fee, early drop-off will begin at 8:00 a.m. and late pick-up will end at 5:30 p.m.
The Children’s Museum summer camps cost $150 a week for Standing Ovation Level CMBV Members, $200 for Clapping Hands members and non-members, and offers a daily rate of $50 per day.
