On October 14, College Station favorite Josh Abbott Band will be performing at Hurricane Harry’s with special guest, Parker McCollum.

Josh Abbott Band is a regular to the College Station music scene and an unquestionable fan favorite. While they spend most of their time touring in Texas, they have also acquired a larger fan base that extends to Nashville, Chicago, Washington D.C., Denver, and Los Angeles. The relatability of their songs has grown their audience, with topics ranging from relationships, to heartbreak, to finding yourself.

Their newest album, “Front Row Seat,” released in 2015, is an extremely personal look at Abbott’s own life, with an in depth look at his personal romantic relationship, from beginning to end, with his now ex-wife. Breaking the album up into five acts, with three songs in each act, the album tells the all too relatable story of meeting, falling in love, getting married, getting divorced, and dealing with the outcome. Although this is not how the album was intended to be, Abbott says that the album has become a “sense of closure” for him.  Not straying from his roots, the album still gives the Texas country music feel that people love, while treating his fans like friends and letting them in to a personal space.

Opening for Josh Abbott Band is Parker McCollum, a 24-year-old new to the Texas music industry. Although he may be young, the singer-songwriter has already been compared to artists such as John Mayer and Ryan Bingham. His first full-length album, “The Limestone Kid,” was released in February 2015 with a good reception. Whether it’s happy or sad, each song tells a story with a mixture of blues, country, and rock roots. His sound is easy, enjoyable, and sure to delight the Aggieland audience.

Grab a friend and drink for an evening of excellent live music at one of College Station’s favorite places with some of its favorite artists.

The show will be on October 14. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through the Hurricane Harry’s website, Cavenders Boot City in College Station, Aggieland Outfitters on University, and Southern Jewlz Boutique on Harvey Road. Doors open at 9pm.
