Is your wiener dog an elite racer? Do you want to race them against other elite wiener dogs? Okay, elite may be a stretch for some BUT if you’re searching for an event that is family and pet-friendly, the Aggieland Humane Society is hosting its annual “Weiner Fest” on Saturday October 24 at Wolf Pen Creek Park. Online registration will close at midnight on the night of October 21, but never fear. If you miss this deadline, registration will be available at Boot Camp, Friday, October 23 and Saturday October 24 before the event.
Over the years, Wiener Fest has become a great tradition and attraction in BCS. It provides a morning filled with fun activities for all ages. There is more to Wiener Fest than just the races. The day starts out with a 5K Run & Walk. Late registrations runs from 6:45-7:30am so be sure to get there early if you have not registered. The 5K will begin at 7:45am. There will be a variety of vendors set up around Wolf Pen Creek Park. This provides a great opportunity for local businesses to advertise and get their brands out to the public. Vendors’ exhibits will be open from 9:00am to 4:00pm. If you are looking for something fun to do with your kids, there will be a kids zone that is open from 9:00am-4:00pm as well.
If your dog is not particularly into racing, there will also be a costume contest! Be sure to dress up Fido in his (or her) best Halloween costume and come out to the event. For those who have trained all year for this, the wiener dog races will begin at 10:00am. If you do not have a wiener dog, you are in luck. There is a “Wanna Be” Race for other breeds. So bring your mutts and hounds out and get them signed up to race!
The event is all outside, so be watching the weather as the event nears. You can go to aggielandhumane.org/wienerfest for more information on how to register, vendor information, and schedules.
