College Station will be the hot spot for live music on November 7, as Bri Bagwell and the Banned performs at the Tap at 9 p.m., immediately following the conclusion of the Chilifest Battle of the Bands.
Bagwell appeared on the country music singing competition CMT’s Next Superstar in 2011, finishing in seventh place and launching quite a successful career in the Texas country music industry. The Las Cruces, New Mexico native has been named Texas Female Vocalist of the Year four times and released two albums, “Banned from Santa Fe” in 2011 and “When a Heart Breaks” in 2015, as well as a self-titled EP in 2013, all with no manager or record contract.
Bagwell has the ideal voice for Texas Country. Her Southern twang is pleasantly accompanied by an earthy tone. Her songs range from the fun, party type to heartfelt lyrics that soothe the soul. Her album, “When a Heart Breaks,” is a healthy mix of both, elevated by her feisty attitude and Southern charm.
Bagwell’s charismatic yet strong stage presence has won over fans from across the country. Her flirty and tough charm attracts audiences, allowing her to connect with them on a personal level and letting her vulnerability shine through the lyrics. Fans react to Bagwell, whether by dancing across the floor or on a more spiritual and emotional level.
Listening to Bagwell sing brings back fond memories of trucks gathered around a back-pasture fire, tailgates down and cold ones cracked open. Someone breaks out a guitar and starts strumming away. The air is crisp and the sky dark, but everyone is warm and lit up by the flames dancing to the melody, surrounded by friends and having a good ole time.
Attending a live performance by Bri Bagwell and the Banned is an experience you won’t forget. Whether you have been a fan for years or are just looking to hear some new songs, it is sure to be a good time. Grab your boots, call your friends and show up early to catch both events for a great evening of live music.
