Beating cancer deserves more than just a pat on the back. It deserves a big ole round of applause.

CHI St. Joseph Health Center is hosting the fourth annual Gran Fondo Bike Race to celebrate cancer survivors in our local community. The race will take place on Sunday, March 3 at Lake Walk Town Center. Roll out will begin at 7:30 a.m. and there are four distances you can choose from, 20, 40, 70 and 100 miles. All riders are welcome, from beginner to advanced. Just be sure to bring water and a smile!

Registration is $50 per rider and all the proceeds go directly to the CHI St. Joseph Health Cancer Service. Alongside admission into the ride, you will receive free entry for a concert on March 2, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Lake Walk featuring Gray Vinyl, food and drink after the race and a t-shirt! Once registered, you are able to pick up your packet of info on Friday, March 1 at Bike Barn from noon until 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.. Bike Barn will be available Saturday for bike needs and eBike demonstrations.

If cyclist isn’t your middle name, then bring a folding chair and some friends and kick back while cheering on the other riders. They’ll certainly welcome the extra encouragement!

Maybe you want to participate a little bit more, but you’re not quite a rider. Well, Gran Fondo is looking for plenty of hardworking volunteers to help set up and get the race flowing smoothly. You can sign up to be a volunteer on their website.

The Stella Hotel is the official host hotel and a number of rooms have been blocked off for riders and spectators. If you want more info on the routes each loop is visible online.

You can register or sign up to volunteer on their website. www.granfondobcs.com
