Unlike most musicians, Max Stalling hadn’t known from a young age that he would be creating music. A Texas native, Stalling grew up in south Texas before attending Texas A&M University for his undergraduate and graduate studies.
After graduating from Texas A&M in 1991 with a master’s degree in Food Science, Stalling relocated to the Dallas area where he worked for corporate companies like FritoLay.
In Dallas, Stalling found a community of American music when he discovered the Three Teardrops Tavern and KNON radio station. It was around this time that Stalling began writing country music songs inspired by artists such as Guy Clark, Lyle Lovett, and Townes Van Zandt. He became a well-known presence in the singer/songwriter scene, and it wasn’t long before he took to the stage and began touring with the very artists who inspired his sound. Stalling now even has his own star on the South Texas Music Walk of Fame in Corpus Christi.
Stalling has currently released eight albums, two of which are live ones. His debut album, “Comfort in the Curves,” established his sound and style as an artist through its twangy vocals and authenticity. One of his earlier albums from 2010, “Home to You,” was produced by Grammy winner Lloyd Maines, and it went on to earn nominations for Best Album and Best Male Vocal at the 2011 Lonestar Music Awards.
Stalling’s latest album, “Home to You,” was released in 2015 and is considered by Country Chart Magazine to be the best recording of his career. In the age of pop culture and dance music, Stalling delivers a sound that is uniquely Texan, enlaced with the fresh roots of classic country.
On February 25, Max Stalling will return to play at the Grand Stafford Theatre in Bryan before heading over to Aledo. It’ll be a night of good ole fashioned Texas Country that will keep your fight tapping and introduce you to a few of your new favorite songs.
