Gameday in Aggieland is a day full of football, but, since game time isn’t until the evening, the day can feel so long. It can be hard to wait to stand with the 12th Man, but there are things to do before and after the game.
If the day is clear and sunny, taking a hike through Lick Creek park is a great way to relax and get in touch with nature. It has a wonderful hiking trail that takes you through an amazing, leafy part of College Station.
You can also visit the George Bush Library, which is dedicated to the 41st president of the United States. There, you can get a feel for some different historical events. There is even an Oval Office replica, where you can take pictures and feel like the president.
Have dinner before the game, or after, at great and unique places such as authentic taquerias in Bryan like El Tio or El Nopalito, that serve the some of the best tacos in town. They really give you the taste of street foods from México.
Take a stroll through historic downtown Bryan, where the scenery is homey and full of fun. There are many shops, museums and more, that fit every need.
If you are feeling adventurous and want to try some great local beer, visit the Aggieland Micro District, where there are three craft alcohol producers, Perrine Winery, Rio Brazos Distillery, and New Republic Brewing Co. They have tours available for the public, and with food trucks and live music, it is hard to say no.
After the first home game, go The Tap, where live music is a staple. The Prophets and Outlaws will be playing at 10 PM on Saturday, September 9. They are a poetic band out of Dallas, Texas, made up of five brothers and friends. The band started off as a country phenomenon, but has slowly turned into a soul/r&b genre band. They have been said to be one of the best live performing bands in Texas.
Whether you decide to stay home until the game or go out and explore the town, there are always fun and entertaining options that allow you to have a successful game day.
