With the weather finally cooling down, we wanted to give you the low-down on some of the great parks in the BCS area. We’ve been waiting all month for that wonderful 75-degree weather and it’s finally here! Now’s the time to take advantage of the local green space. Here’s some of our favorites:
BEST PARK FOR A PICK-UP GAME & PHOTOGRAPHY: OAKS PARK
Oaks Park is located right off of Harvey by sorority row. The park has a cute little stream with a bridge crossing, which is a great place for photographs and headshots. The park also has enough space for all kinds of pick-up games, and there’s usually a group or two out there enjoying a game of Frisbee golf.
BEST PLACE TO WALK YOUR DOG: BRISON PARK
Brison Park is the perfect place for a scenic stroll with your pup. The trees, well-placed park benches, and winding trail are unmatched in the area. Your dog will love the fresh scents and interesting scenery, and you’ll love the shade of the trees along the pathways.
BEST PARK FOR BASKETBALL: TARROW PARK
Located in the heart of Southside historic, the court at Tarrow Park is perfect for a Wednesday afternoon basketball game with friends. It’s within walking distance from campus and located near tons of student housing.
BEST PARK FOR SOFTBALL: LUTHER JONES PARK
The field in Luther Jones Park is open to everyone, and even has bleachers for your friends to hang out and watch. The field is fenced in so you don’t have to worry about runaway balls, and it’s also a great place to let your dog off leash so it can join in too! (Just be sure to clean up after them, of course!)
BEST PARK FOR AN ORGANIZED EVENT: WOLF PEN CREEK PARK
Wolf Pen Creek has got it all, tons of open park space, an amphitheater, and some other buildings to use for your event. No matter how large or small your event is going to be, there’s something for you at Wolf Pen Creek.
