Lakeside Icehouse, one of the ‘go to’ places for live music in the BCS area, will host College Station native Austin English on September 17. English has performed around College Station a number of times, and he is a popular performer at local venue Smitty K’s.

English is known for his mix of Country, Americana and Blues. Austin’s debut EP “Crazy” is now available on Spotify. It consist of fives songs, and the single, also titled “Crazy,” is the most listened to song of the album.

English’s music has a fast beat and really gets you wanting to two-step. At first listen, it sounds like straightforward Texas country. That wouldn’t be a wrong way to describe English’s music, but it also has a touch of alternative sound to it. Since English does mix up some genres, his sound is not like your ordinary country music. The more you listen to it, the more you can hear his natural talent. His songs are romantic, the kind of song you would dedicate to a significant other.

English gets inspiration from some country artists, such as Bruce Springsteen, but also from diverse artists like Tom Petty, The Eagles and Stevie Ray Vaughan. His influences are from different genres, and you can really hear that in his music. Although one of his songs, “High Times and Low,” is a slower number, the other four are great dancing songs.

There will be drinks at the show, and the environment will be one you cannot miss. Come out to Lake Bryan for a great time, while taking advantage of the beautiful sunset by the lake and some great live music. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and there is no charge for the show.
