Avid runners, if you haven’t heard about the BCS Marathon, you’re missing out. The BCS Marathon + Half Marathon on December 11 is back for the 2016 season. The race is on its sixth year, and is currently the highest rated marathon in the state of Texas.

Sponsored by companies such as Baylor Scott & White, Caldwell Country Chevrolet, RDM Pros Production Professionals, TexAgs, Café Eccell, and many more, the sixth annual BCS Marathon + Half Marathon is an event any runner will not want to miss.

Beginning at 7:00am, the race course is fast and flat, with a route curving in and out of shady neighborhoods, golf courses, and the Texas A&M campus, with a few rolling Texas hills in miles 11-13. The course will be stocked with refreshments, including aid stations with water and lemon-lime Gatorade every 1.5 miles, and every fourth station will have gel, candy, and brownies. There will also be Port-a-Potties stationed approximately every 3 miles.

Be advised: you must complete the marathon in six and a half hours. Closing on a rolling schedule, the race allots 15 minutes per mile for both the half and full marathon. Every participant will receive a shirt and all race finishers will receive a technical fabric finisher’s shirt and finisher’s medal. There will also be a post-race party with food and a beer spread, so come out and celebrate. The packet pickup and expo will be on Saturday, December 10 to get all extra information.

Mercy Project is a Bryan/College Station organization that works to eradicate child slavery in Ghana, Africa. They implement economic development projects in villages and communities in Ghana, where an estimated 7,000 children work as slaves. The new economic opportunities give alternatives to the forced child labor.

The BSC Marathoon + Half Marathon is also a partner with Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley. This organization is a Down Syndrome Support Group for individual with Down Syndrome, self-advocates, families, friends, and professionals.

The BCS Marathon + Half Marathon will begin at 7:00am on December 11. The course is USAT&F certified, and it is a Boston Marathon qualifying race. So come out for a great run, great food, and a great cause!
