Have you had the pleasure of visiting The Village Cafe in the heart of Bryan? This cafe is always finding ways to bring the community closer, and for the past decade, it has been a fierce promoter for “All Things Local,” especially people. And what’s a better place to gather people than on a dance floor?
The Village is well known for their local roots, and is even referred to as the living room of Bryan by some. They’ve got it all, locally sourced coffee, beer brewed down the street, foods grown in Bryan dirt and art crafted by some of our own. Just when you think they can’t do more, they do. The Village Salsa Night was voted Best Night of Dancing for three years in a row. Now that sounds like something we’ve got to see for ourselves.
According to one of The Village’s staff members, “The atmosphere is great for a hot night of dancing, and there’s no partner or experience necessary! Be ready to sweat a little, even in the winter.”
Salsa the night away at The Village every Saturday from 10 p.m. till 2 a.m. No matter your background, Salsa Night is for all who desire to move their hips a bit. The night kicks off with some simple lessons from 10 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., and then the floor is open for a full night of dancing. During the lesson, basic steps are taught in a light, upbeat atmosphere with an energetic instructor who makes everyone feel like a pro.
Whether you’re single, have a partner or want to bring a group of friends, put on your best dancing shoes and be prepared to get your groove on. There is a small $5 entry fee, but it is inclusive of the lesson as well as the open dance floor.
Most of us are familiar with Harry’s, but why not try a new dance spot this year and a new dance? Let’s step out of our comfort zone together and get our salsa on!
