Imagine yourself sitting on a blanket with your family at your side, watching a movie you know and love, just as the sun sets until there’s nothing left in the sky but stars. There’s nothing more timeless than spending an evening out with the family, so head on over to the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum for their Summer Film Series!

The series starts Friday, June 21, when the Library will be showing the 2008 Walt Disney movie, “WALL-E”, the heartfelt story about a robot who changes the future for the better along with EVE, the Juliet robot to his Romeo. If the kids haven’t seen this one, it’s definitely the right time!

The next movie hopping into the Summer Film Series is Walt Disney’s 2016 animated film, “Zootopia” on Friday, August 16. This fun-filled animal romp is about two very different animals joining forces to bring justice to the big city like the police-animals they are. See your favorite animal detectives solve the case!

Lastly is the movie to remind you that everything is awesome, Warner Bros.’ “The LEGO Movie” will be showing on Friday, September 27. This toy-adaptation tells the story of an ordinary Lego named Emmet who goes on an adventure of self-discovery. Does he really have what it takes to save the world, or is he just the same ordinary Emmet? Everything is awesome when you come to see for yourself!

“WALL-E” is rated G while “Zootopia” and “The LEGO Movie” are rated PG. But all these movies have something in common: they impact us no matter our age. So what makes a cartoon so touching and impactful, even if it is a kid’s movie? According to the Library’s website, these films are being shown alongside the Library’s newest exhibit, “Wit and Humor: American Political Cartoons,” which presents a deeper look into how cartoonists’ creations have changed and influenced the country. The exhibit will continue through January 2020.

So bring your cartoon-enthusiastic family along for a night under the stars because these animated films are sure to make you relive some movie magic wonder!

All films begin at 7 p.m. at the George Bush Presidential Library Center. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers but please leave pets and glass containers at home. The movies are free, but you will need to make a reservation.
