Live music and entertainment isn’t reserved for just the weekends, and The Tap will be rocking on Tuesday, Oct. 2, as singer-songwriter Matthew Ryan takes the stage.
Ryan, a native of Chester, Pennsylvania, brings a mix of powerful rock songs and chilling ballads as he captivates audiences with his heartfelt lyrics. His strong, raspy-ish voice pairs well with the band, regardless of the direction the song takes.
Breaking into the music scene in the late 90s, Ryan’s debut album, “May Day,” contained a level of maturity and emotional content beyond his years. While releasing several albums over the first decade of his career, Ryan didn’t see the success his first record had promised. However, his connection with The Gaslight Anthem frontman, Brian Fallon, sparked the creative juices.
In 2014, Ryan released “Boxers,” an album fueled by rock ‘n’ roll that brought new life to his career. His latest album, “Hustle Up Starlings,” was released in May 2017. The album is a combination of heart-pounding rocker vibes and grim, bleak songs focusing on what could have been in relationships.
In his over 20 years of experience in the industry, Ryan has released 12 studio albums, eight self-distributed albums and has contributed 10 singles to collaborative records. A thirteenth studio album, a collection of acoustic versions, demos and unreleased songs titled “Starlings Unadorned,” was released in 2018.
Ryan will be yet another in a long list of musical talent to appear at The Tap. As one of the best venues for live music in College Station, The Tap has made it a tradition to host a wide variety of musicians and bands. Doors will open for this performance at 7 p.m., and Ryan will take the stage shortly after.
Don’t miss out on what is sure to be a great show in a great venue!
