Holy binge-watch Batman, the first season of “Gotham” is now available on Netflix. If you’re a DC fan itching for relief from all of the Marvel hype, then this is a show you do not want to miss.
A prequel to Bruce Wayne and his Batman origin story, “Gotham” follows the evolution of James Gordon from rookie detective to commissioner of Gotham City. Of course that evolution has a quite a few hiccups. Gordon is just one player in a never-ending, politically-corrupt chess match to keep the city safe from the mob and other nefarious villains.
Ben McKenzie excels as a morally-conflicted James Gordon. He hasn’t aged a day since his role as Ryan Atwood on “The O.C.,” however, his acting skills have most certainly improved over the years. As a result of McKenzie’s convincing and passionate portrayal, you’ll be rooting for Gordon throughout the entire season.
During this season, you’ll also encounter the origin stories of other well-known DC characters such as Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin), Selina Kyle (Catwoman), and Edward Nygma (The Riddler). This intriguing cast will have you glued to your screen for the entirety of the 22 episodes.
