When you’re in the mood for pizza, you can’t go wrong in Downtown Bryan with the two local gems Mr. G’s and Rx Pizza. But with their proximity and equal tastiness, sometimes it’s hard to choose. The good news is you can’t go wrong. We put together some information to make the decision a little easier.
Mr. G’s Pizzeria is located on West 26th street in Bryan. Since their opening, they have also opened up a second Mr. G’s in College Station on University. Their pizza comes in many different forms, whether you want a calzone, a regular pie, or gluten free. With nine specialty pizzas to choose from, veggie lovers to meat fanatics will find something they love.
We love the thick, chewy crust at Mr. G’s, making the crust one of the best parts. The pizzas come in either 14 or 16-inch sizes, which are both big enough to share or take home for leftovers (cold Mr. G’s is the best!). If you go by during lunch hours and aren’t feeling quite as hungry, you can also by pizza by the slice. Be sure to save room for Mr. G’s amazing cheesy garlic bread though.
Rx Pizza and bar is right across from Mr. G’s, and is no less delicious. Rx Pizza is made in a brick oven, giving it it’s great charred and toasty taste. We love the atmosphere in the restaurant and can’t get enough of their amazing sides, especially the sunrise tots (tater tots topped with bacon, goat cheese, fried egg, and avocado ranch).
With eight delicious specialty pizzas and a “build-your-own” option, Rx is great even for the pickiest of eaters. Rx serves has a one-size-fits-all philosophy, serving only 14 inch pies (8 inch pies are offered during lunch hours). This pizzeria is also known for their specialty cocktails because nothing goes better with pizza than booze (we recommend the classic Moscow mule–$7).
Both Mr. G’s and Rx are very similar price wise, so as far as pizza and money go, both are a great option. If you are gluten free, Mr. G’s is for you. But if you’re looking for a cocktail to wash down your dough, then Rx is the go-to. If you are simply looking for some great pizza, then you can’t go wrong in Downtown Bryan!
