Spring break flew by in the blink of an eye, and now it’s back to the grind of everyday life. In the midst of returning to school and work, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. On March 24, the Randy Rogers Band is coming back to College Station.
The band, along with guest star Red Shahan, will be performing at Hurricane Harry’s at 9pm. Kicking off their 2017 tour on March 10, the country super stars plan to perform in cities across Texas, California, and Arizona.
Raised in Cleburne, Randy Rogers grew up with music practically in his veins. By the age of six, his great-grandmother taught him to play the piano, and Rogers began writing his own songs and learning chords on the guitar when he was 11 years old. His past experience spent in a backing band led the artist to form his own group as the frontman. Along with some friends from college, the Randy Rogers Band was born. They released their first ever album, “Live at Cheatham St. Warehouse,” named after a bar in San Marcos.
In 2002, the Randy Rogers Band recorded and released their first studio album entitled “Like It Used to Be.” After releasing two additional albums, the country group, consisting of Geoffrey Hill on guitar, Jon Richardson on bass, Brady Black and Les Lawless on drums, signed to the major-label Mercury Nashville the next year. In the summer of 2007, Rolling Stones magazine listed the band among artists like U2 and the Stones in the category Top Ten Must-See Artists.
Since then, the Randy Rogers Band has shared the stage with country musicians such as Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan, and Willie Nelson. In 2012, the group released the single “One More Sad Song,” which later became their highest charting song, reaching #38 on the country charts. This success also launched their album “Trouble” onto Billboard’s country album charts at number three as well as number nine on the Top 200 in April 2013. Since then, the Randy Rogers Band has collaborated with Wade Bowen, releasing the duet album “Hold My Beer Vol. 1.”
The band’s latest work includes “Nothing Shines like Neon,” a studio album released in January of 2016.
