Put on your best pair of boots and come honor the Lone Star state by listening to some good ol’ country jams! Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater happily hosts the Republic of Texas Festival Sunday, March 2 to commemorate Texas’ separation from Mexico way back when in 1836. The festival features several well-known country music artists and a few emerging talents from all over Texas! The event is open to all ages with the gates opening at 4 p.m. and festivities beginning shortly after. Tickets are available online now!
What better way to ‘Remember the Alamo’ than to attend a concert recognizing it? The Republic of Texas Festival is an event full of great musicians from all over the state who want to express their love and appreciation for Texas as much as you do!
“Part of You” will fall for a newcomer to the country music scene, artist Grant Gilbert. After establishing himself in 2017, Gilbert has emerged as an artist who creates a particular sound that can cross over from cool country to rugged rock. Listen close for Gilbert’s not-yet-released new single, “Denying Desires” during the show.
Also taking the stage is a wild cowboy himself, artist John Baumann. Known for his rough-tough vocals, this West Texas man has honored the flatland plains of the Lone Star state since his debut in 2015. With the rocky Southern sound of his songs, they are certain to have you raising your drink and stompin’ your boots right along to the drums.
Oklahoman-native singer songwriter Kaitlin Butts pays tribute to her new home state in her performance at the Republic of Texas Festival. Made popular from her vocal appearances in many Flatland Cavalry songs, this rebellious redheaded has strong vocals that demand attention. Butts will debut her stories of fun-lovin’ times as well as the darker side of jealousy and whiskey drinkin’ through her songs.
Laid-back country boy Parker McCollum is among the up and coming rising new artists to perform at the festival. With songs that let listeners in on the struggles of being on the road away from home, “The Limestone Kid” is sure to make you want to grab someone to sway with.
Coming to the stage from Waco, Texas, is artist Wade Bowen, debuting his new album, “Solid Ground,” among his other older songs. Bowen is recognized for the scruff sounds associated with his songs that take listeners on adventures to a smoke-filled bar.
The boys of West Texas are back to steal the show at the Republic of Texas Festival. Josh Abbott Band comes to headline the event and perform their newest album, “Until My Voice Goes Out,” among many of their other popular songs. The band has been around for years and has produced a Red Dirt country sound that listeners can recognize after only a few chords. Josh Abbott Band will show their admiration for Texas through the smooth, tender sound of the fiddle and Abbott’s stirring vocals.
Partnering with the Josh Abbott Band, the Republic of Texas Festival has agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds to JABCares. Through JABCares, the band is able to partner with other organizations in Texas by raising awareness and contributing financially. Past recipients have included Susan G. Komen, Dallas Children’s Hospital, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Apart from the concert, there will also be food and drink available from select vendors stationed throughout the amphitheatre area and opportunities to buy merchandise from the performing artists. Be sure to bring your id and some extra cash to get snacks and a souvenir!
General admission tickets are only $27.50 and are available until 10 a.m. the morning of the festival. Rain or shine, the festival will go on! Arrive early and bring a blanket to pick out the perfect concert-viewing spot among the grassy hills of the amphitheatre!
