Texas Country is perhaps the most popular genre of music in Bryan-College Station, but it certainly is not the only prevalent genre in town.  While it’s true that dozens of local twenty-somethings attend weekly country concerts at Hurricane Harry’s, rock music, and particularly indie rock and alternative rock, also has a sizable following here. Fans of such music would enjoy seeing the band Screaming Females live in concert. This Friday, country music fans are invited to trade in their cowboy boots and heavy belt buckles for Chuck Taylor’s and leather jackets at the Screaming Females concert at The Grand Stafford Theater in Historic Downtown Bryan.

The band, together since their high school years, are on tour, promoting their seventh studio album entitled “All at Once.” For the first time ever, the New Jersey natives incorporate pop-punk beats into their sound. This genre blend can be heard on tracks “I’ll Make You Sorry” and “Soft Domination.” At its peak, “All at Once” reached number 14 on the Billboard US Independent Albums chart and number 2 on the Billboard US Heatseekers chart. The album has received rave reviews from critics, including an A- score from The A.V. Club. The music video for the album’s third track, “I’ll Make You Sorry,”  was directed by Lance Bangs. Bangs has worked with multi-platinum selling artists such as Kanye West and Green Day.

Music lovers of all ages are welcome to enjoy the howling tunes of Screaming Females at their concert on Friday, October 19. The doors of The Grand Stafford Theater open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Purchase tickets for $12 in advance here: https://grandstaffordtheater.com/event/screaming-females-with-kitten-forever/ or at the door for $15.
