If you’ve been looking for a good read at a great price, then look no further than the Friends of the Library’s semi-annual book sale!

On Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, the Friends of the Library will be selling thousands of books that have been donated by patrons and community members at Clara B. Mounce Public Library in Downtown Bryan. Books for sale include cookbooks, young adult novels, fiction, biographies, and children’s books — and a whole lot more.

Susan Adams, President of Friends of the Library, says it’s a great way to contribute to the BCS libraries. “For teachers, day care providers, senior care facilities, churches, non-profits and community centers,” says Adams, “this is an awesome way to stock the shelves. For families, friends and just plain bookaholics, this is a treasure chest!”

On Saturday, doors open at 9 a.m. for Friends of the Library members, and 10 a.m. for non-members. Until 2 p.m. you can fill up a bag full of books for just $20. If you’d like to sign up as a member in advance to gain early access for Saturday, you can do so on the Friends of the Library BCS website.

On Sunday, doors will be open from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. With bargain-basement prices, you can purchase a bag of books for just $10, and $5 for each additional bag. Their goal is to get these books moving from their shelves onto yours! You can pay for your book haul using cash, check, or credit card.

All proceeds benefit the Bryan-College Station Library system, which includes Mounce, Ringer, and Carnegie Libraries. Friends of the Library is a nonprofit organization which promotes the Public Library, and encourages all citizens to utilize all of the services our libraries offer. They also provide funding for substantial projects, such as an $18,000 donation toward Ringer Library’s expansion, maintaining the printer & copy machines at Mounce, and reading programs – including a summer program, which over ten thousand people participate in annually!
