Texas country great Whiskey Myers is returning to Hurricane Harry’s February 19. Opening for Whiskey Myers is up and coming Texas country artist Aaron Einhouse.
The band is praised for making “honest” music. Whiskey Myers is comprised of Cody Cannon, Cody Tate, John Jeffers, Gary Brown, and Jeff Hogg. The group grew up together in Palestine, Texas and this childhood bond has allowed them to keep nothing off-limits in their music. Any and every subject is open to having a song written about it. This honesty and authenticity has kept Whiskey Myers in the Texas Country spotlight and has brought them devoted fans from all over.
Whiskey Myer’s brings a great edge to Texas country. Influenced by southern rock, rock, and country, the band has made a sound that is inherently their own, resulting in wild success in the Texas music scene. Fans come out in droves to hear this band and you can understand why.
Guitarist John Jeffers says “Staying true to ourselves and to our music has gotten us to the point we’re at. We really want to continue on that same track.” That mantra has been reflected in the group’s music, which has progressively gotten better and better.
The group’s debut album “Road of Life” was released in July of 2008. Since then, they have gone on to release two more successful albums. In 2011, the released “Firewater” which peaked at # 26 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums. The album included fan favorites like “Bar, Guitar, and a Honkytonk Crowd” and “Ballad of a Southern Man.”
In 2014, they released “Early Morning Shakes.” They enlisted Dave Cobb to produce the album, who has produced for great talent such as Waylon and Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson. Cobb’s mastery and Whiskey Myer’s authenticity brought this album to another level. Combining southern rock, rock, and country, they knocked it out of the park. The album was wildly successful, peaking at #10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums. Included on the album was a tremendous cover of David Allen Coe’s “Need a Little Time Off for Bad Behavior.” Between albums, the group released two singles. They released “Summer 2005” in the summer of 2009 and “Home” in October of 2013.
